Bunyoro- Toro Muslim Leaders Condemns Attempts To Split Muslim Faithful.
Muslim leaders in the Bunyoro-Tooro region have reiterated their allegiance to the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) and its topmost leader, His Eminence Mufti Sheikh Dr. Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, as the sole recognized Muslim leader in Uganda. During a regional meeting held at the Regional headquarters at Bwikya Historic Hill in Hoima Oil City on Thursday, February 15th, 2024, attended by all 10 District Khadhis and members of the UMSC General Assembly representing Muslim districts in the region, the leaders firmly rejected the resolutions made elsewhere that elected another “mufti”, dismissing it as mere comedy.
The Bunyoro-Tooro Muslim leaders strongly condemned any attempts to sow division within the Muslim community in Uganda. Regional Assistant to the Mufti /RAM Shk Hussein Galibu Amooti characterized the actions of those supporting the alternative mufti as treasonous and called for their isolation and rejection by all Muslims in the Bunyoro-Tooro region. The leaders also decreed that Sheikh Semambo and his associates should be barred from utilizing UMSC structures for their unauthorized mobilization efforts. Furthermore, the Muslim leaders denounced the misuse of social media by certain misguided individuals to disparage the Mufti and other authorities, asserting that such behavior warrants disciplinary action by the UMSC disciplinary committee. Additionally, the meeting extended gratitude to the Bunyoro-Tooro regional headquarters construction committee for their commendable work. Also Regional Assistant Sheikh Hussein Galibu Amooti expressed appreciation to the District Kadhis and members of the General Assembly for their robust turnout and for endorsing the resolution in support of Mufti Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje.
