Mufti Attends Send Off Haj Hakim Mbubi

His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, accompanied by his Deputy, His Eminence Sheikh Mohammad Ali Waiswa, joined numerous mourners at the burial of Haj Abdu-Hakim Mbubi, the eldest son and heir of the late Haj Asuman Mbubi, former Vice Chairman of UMSC in the 1980s. The late Hakim Mbubi was laid to rest at their ancestral grounds in Budembe village, Busolwe sub-county, Butaleja District, on Thursday Feb 15th, 2024. In his speech, Mufti Mubaje paid tribute to the deceased for living an exemplary life as an heir and for upholding the legacy of his late father, Haj Asuman Mbubi, a prominent figure in the Eastern region. He highlighted the late Haj Asuman Mbubi’s humble service to Islam and noted his role as one of the signatories to the Mecca Agreement, which later led to the amendment of the UMSC Constitution in 1987, fostering unity among Muslims in Uganda. Sheikh Mubaje urged Muslims to emulate such virtuous personalities, emphasizing the importance of family unity, and encouraged the Mbubi family to continue their late father’s legacy of promoting Islamic activities.
Mufti Mubaje also announced his intention to return to Butaleja and neighboring Tororo districts to address misunderstandings among area Muslim leaders. Lastly, he urged Muslims to disregard the misguided individuals based in Kampala City and instead adhere to the provisions of the UMSC Constitution in conducting Muslim activities.
In attendance were Dr. Sheikh Ahmad Wadenga, Regional Assistant to the Mufti in charge of the Eastern region, Sheikh Swaib Mukama, District Kadhi of Butaleja, Sheikh Asante, the Kadhi of Tororo, prominent Sheikhs, the Area Woman Representative to Parliament, local government leaders, and others.
