UMSC Roots for Collaboration with Aga Khan Foundation

Hon. Hadji Abbas Ssekyanzi Muluubya, the Secretary General of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC has welcomed a delegation from the Aga Khan Foundation to the UMSC headquarters in Old Kampala. The delegation, led by Ambassador Amin Mawji and including Arzina Kurji, President of the Ismaili National Council for Uganda, and Ms. Yasheen Ratanshi, Regional Board Member for ARF East Africa, engaged in fruitful discussions at a mid-Monday morning meeting. Also present were key members of UMSC departments, including Hon. Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma, Deputy Secretary General in charge of Finance and Administration; Sheikh Juma Bakhit Cucu, Secretary for Education; Hon. Kagiiko Imam Shaffi, Social Service Secretary; and Hon. Haj Juma Ali Ngobi, Secretary for Finance and Planning.
The discussions between the host and the guests spanned a wide range of mutual interests. They mutually agreed to formalize their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding, focusing particularly on education initiatives. This collaboration will involve the operation of Madrassas Schools, scholarships in fields such as health and Islamic Civilization Studies, and various social transformation programs within communities.
