UMSC Secretary General Hosts Muslim Women Leaders From Eastern Region.

Muslim women leaders from 10 districts under the Eastern Muslim Region paid a courtesy visit to the UMSC headquarters at Old Kampala on Friday, January 26th, 2024.
They were led by Hon. Nambozo Hasifa Lubega, the Eastern Muslim Woman Representative to the UMSC General Assembly. Upon arrival, they were received by Hon. Sophia Safina Kenyangi, the Chairperson of the National Muslim Women Council. Before meeting the Hon. Secretary General, they had a guided tour of the National Mosque and the entire UMSC secretariat.
In his welcoming remarks, Hon. Hadji Abbas Ssekyanzi Muluubya, the UMSC Secretary General, on behalf of His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, who had gone to Jinja City to attend the 38th anniversary celebrations of the National Resistance Government (NRM), expressed profound gratitude to visiting Muslim women leaders for the role they play in their respective districts. He emphasized that they are the mirrors of the Islamic faith, urging them to strive to guard and preserve their oaths of allegiance as they serve their communities. He dispelled rumors circulating in the media regarding a change in top National Muslim leadership.
“It is good you have come to physically tour your Muslim headquarters, and when you go back, tell your people that UMSC is operating normally with His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje as the sitting Mufti, so they should also ignore the fake news that he was replaced with another person,” stated Hadji Muluubya. He concluded with a pledge to offer support that promotes social transformation programs in conjunction with the Chairperson of the Muslim Women Council and other UMSC departments. Meanwhile, earlier on, high-ranking UMSC officials delivered speeches to the visitors. They included Hon. Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma, Deputy Secretary General in charge of Finance and Administration, Hon. Sophia Safina Kenyangi, Dr. Sheikh Ziyadh Swaleh Lubanga, Director of Sharia, Hon. Sheikh Ali Juma Shiwuyo, Secretary for Hijja & UMRA, Hon. Yaziidi Katureebe, Secretary for Administration & Human Resource, Hon. Kagiiko Imam Shaffi, Secretary for Social Services, and Sheikh Abdulbarri Muhammad Kaloozi. They all highlighted their departmental duties and implored the leaders to stay united, educate children in both secular and religious matters, get empowered with life skills, and undergo capacity building.
