Mufti Urges Muslims to Live Righteously

His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda has encouraged Muslims to strive for and live righteously. This was part of his impactful speech delivered at the memorial prayers for the late Haj Musa Noor Gule. Haj Gule, the husband of Hon. Hajjat Avako Merisa Naima Gule, Yumbe Woman Member of Parliament and Muslim Woman Representative of the West Nile Region to the UMSC General Assembly at their home in Lweza, Kajjansi Town Council in Entebbe Muslim District on Jan 15th, 2024.Mufti Mubaje reflected on the massive burial of Haj Gule, an event he had never witnessed in his entire adult life. “Indeed, Haj Gule lived a fruitful life, testified by all who knew him. He was exemplary as a pious Muslim, a devoted husband, a caring father, a unifier in his clan, and a staunch supporter of UMSC as an institution,” remarked Sheikh Mubaje. He added, “Whoever among his children takes the lead needs prayers for wisdom and guidance to maintain unity in this unique family.”
In a special acknowledgment, Sheikh Mubaje thanked over 40 honorable Members of Parliament for attending and standing with the Muslim fraternity. He urged them to continue consulting UMSC in legislative processes, emphasizing laws aligned with Islamic values. Sheikh Mubaje concluded by reminding Muslims of the UMSC Constitution, guiding the organization’s activities and elections, cautioning against misguided individuals causing confusion among the faithful.Earlier, Heads of Several Parliamentary Committees, including Hon. Asuman Basalirwa, spoke highly of their colleague, Hon. Hajjat Avako Naima Merisa Gule, as a virtuous lady dedicated to Islam and public service. They paid tribute to the Mufti and UMSC for cooperation in legislative processes. The family of the deceased, in their speeches, vowed to cherish his legacy as an educationalist, a loving and peaceful figure, compassionate to the needy, a job creator, and a pious Muslim.
In attendance were members of the UMSC Management Committee, led by Hon. Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma, Deputy Secretary-General in charge of Finance and Administration, Hon. Sophia Safina Kenyangi, National Chairperson Muslim Women Council, Hon. Haj Muhamood Kateregga Namuguzi, UMSC Executive member, Sheikh Sendijja Farook, host District Kadhi, Sheikh Al Hay Kadhi of Yumbe Muslim District, County Sheikhs, Imaams, prominent personalities from the West Nile region, among many others.
