Mufti Asks Muslims to Ignore Noise Markers

His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda has asked Muslims to ignore the noise they hear from Kampala and go about their normal duties. He said this shortly after commissioning Masjid Aziz Hakim in Mutufu Town Council in Sironko district on Saturday. “What you hear in Kampala isn’t new we have lived with it. I want to assure you that everything is fine that is why we don’t waste our time fighting those people,” he said amidst chants of Allah Akbar (God is the Greatest) from the audience. He added that “I don’t lose sleep because of that noise. When I go to bed I have sound sleep because I know I am in the truth.” He explained that most of the people now making noise in Kampala worked with Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC and were ejected because of indiscipline. ‘We worked with them before and sacked them from our structures over numerous cases,” he said. He noted that those fighting the Council are jealous because of the achievements. “I once hosted an Archbishop, who after going on around on a guided tour said these people would be fools not to fight you,” the Mufti said sending the crowd into laughter. He thanked all Kadhis and members of the General Assembly for standing with the Council. Speaking about the newly upgraded Mosque, Sheikh Mubaje hailed the donors who financed the works and urged Muslims to use the mosque for prayers and educating their children. “use this Mosque to educate your children during these holidays. We are not suggesting that all children should become Sheikhs but they should at least learn the basic that will enable them to practice their faith,” he said.
He hailed Sheikh Ali Juma Shiwuyo, the Secretary for Haj and Umra for overseeing the mosque expansion works, saying that he had delivered to his expectation. Sheikh Shiuyo had earlier told the Mufti that they had expanded the Mosque, completed wiring and sank a borehole to supply clean water to the Mosque and the community.
“I want to assure your eminence that we used the right mixture of cement, sand and quality timber. We worked on this mosque like you taught us to do. And no body demands even a penny on this mosque as all people have been paid,” he said. He also told the Mufti that he had decided to improve the toilets on the mosque that were not part of the original works. Speaking at the same meeting Dr. Sarah Kanabi, the Executive Director of the Electricity Regulatory Authority hailed the Mufti for supporting the expansion of the mosque. “Now with a beautiful mosque we need a house for the imam and a Muslim school. We pray that you support us like you have done for the mosque,” she said. Present at the gathering we’re the Eastern Regional Assistant to the Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Hamid Wandenga, the Kadhis of Sironko, Mbale, Bududa, Members of the General Assembly, local politicians, and church leaders.
