Mufti Condemns the Annihilation of Palestinian People
His Eminence, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, strongly condemns the loss of lives and destruction inflicted upon the Palestinian people by the Israeli government.
This condemnation comes in response to the severe siege and senseless bombardment that has rained down on the Palestinian territory of Gaza, Palestine. These actions are in retaliation to the deaths and abductions of Israeli citizens that occurred a few days ago during attacks initiated by Hamas, a Palestinian-based militant organization formed in the 1980s to fight for Palestinian sovereignty as an independent state recognized by the international community.
Mufti Mubaje expressed his dismay at the ongoing conflict between the Palestinians and the State of Israel. He made these remarks shortly after leading Friday -prayers at the National Mosque in Old Kampala, Oct 13th 2023.
, especially the Western world, which claims to be champions of human rights, has turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to the suffering of the Palestinians. Israel has relentlessly pounded them and forcibly evicted them from their ancestral lands, including targeting the Masjid Al-Aqsa, the third holy Islamic sanctuary and first Qiblah -direction of prayer in Jerusalem, which they captured from the Palestinians in 1967.
“We are well aware of the history of Israel and Palestine. The Israeli people initially came as refugees but gradually encroached on Palestinian lands, leaving them with less than ten percent of their territories. The worst part of their plan is to completely annihilate the Palestinians. The world has witnessed their merciless killing of innocent people, including babies, women, the elderly, and other vulnerable individuals,” Mufti Mubaje emphasized.
Mufti called upon all Ugandan Muslim faithful to continually offer special prayers for the suffering Palestinian people. Additionally, he urged Muslims to adhere to security measures directed by H.E. President Museveni, particularly in light of the enforcement of national security in all areas, including places of worship, such as mosques and churches.
In closing, Mufti Mubaje mentioned an organized trip in which the top religious leaders under the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) were taken to the Albertine region in the mid-western part of Uganda, covering Bunyoro. During this trip, they familiarized themselves with the ongoing exploration and extraction of oil wells, as well as the construction of a massive airport. He noted that these projects are progressing well, with the aim of establishing industries for the production of gas, money, fertilizers, petrol, kerosene, clothing, and crude oil for export, among other expected products.
The gathering concluded with special prayers dedicated to the souls of thousands of Palestinian martyrs, including those who have been severely injured. These prayers were led by Sheikh Abdu Obeid Kamulegeya of the UMSC Shura Council.
In attendance were not only His Eminence Sheikh Abdallah Ibrahim Ssemambo Tamusuza, the Deputy Mufti, and His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, the 2nd Deputy Mufti, but also National Management Committee members led by Hon. Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma, the UMSC Acting Secretary General, and various executives. Former UMSC leaders, including Sheikh Hussein Rajab Kakooza, Dr. Haj Edris Sserugo Kasenene, Haj Tezikuba Ssajjabi, a former Presidential Advisor in the Office of the President, were also present.
