UMSC Refutes False Claims against ongoing Developments at Headquarters

Hon. Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma, the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC Secretary General on behalf of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC has dismissed false claims that appeared in Bukedde News Paper of Sept 1st 2023, under the headline “Abasiraamu Batabukidde Mubajje okukookera Obuduuka Ku muzikiti ( loosely translated in English” that “Muslims are furious with the Mubaje over the ongoing substandard developments, (tiny shops) at the UMSC Headquarters in Old Kampala.
Addressing Muslims shortly after the Friday congregational (Juma) prayers at the National Mosque on Sept 1st 2023, Hon. Aluma explained that the said developments comprising the reconstruction of a befitting main Gate and the new commercial premises around the Headquarter complex was part of the Strategic Developmental plan rolled out late year after being approved by the relevant organs purposely to enhance the Council’s Revenue.
“As we talk now, the scope of the UMSC activities has been expanded and these call for the increase of new offices and revenue sources to handle among other issues payment for utilities such as water and power. .So the project isn’t meant to enrich the top UMSC leadership as the author of the false story wanted the public more especially the members of the Muslim community to believe,” he said.
Hon. Aluma went ahead to castigate his predecessor Dr. Ramathan Mugalu, and Haj Abdu Kiyimba, a former member of the UMSC Executive alongside other people allied to the Kibuli faction and the anti- Muslim unity forces who were quoted speaking ill of the projects .
Hon. Aluma informed the attentive Muslims worshippers that the cited development projects were conceived during Haj Mugalu’s tenure as Secretary General, saying “it is strange that he now speaks against the implementation of the same. This is hypocrisy of the highest order,” he said.
He reminded his listeners that whatever Mugalu and his likes are doing wasn’t new because even when the National Mosque and the commercial Perimeter Complex comprising one hundred shops were being constructed at Old Kampala in early 2000, Kibuli diehards vehemently opposed the projects and tried to grab them when completed under the cover of the false, malicious and unfounded propaganda directed at the administration of Mufti His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje.
He ended his brief remarks by cautioning Muslims to always ignore such confusing elements within in the community as one of the ways of safeguarding Muslim unity.
