UMSC Appointments Committee Swears In

His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda has presided over the swearing-in of a committee responsible for recruitment, promotion assessment, discipline, and termination of employee service at Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), among other related matters. The committee members, appointed by the General Assembly, the highest legislative body of the Council, took their oaths during a brief function held in the Mufti’s Office in UMSC Headquarters, Old Kampala, on Tuesday evening, August 22nd, 2023.
They are Honorables Sheikh Bruhan Abdul-Kadir Byekwaso, Chairperson, Haj Sewante M. Kalipher, Karim Osuje, Hajjat Kenyangi Sofia Safinah, Dr. Ramadhan Kasadha and Sheikh Ahmad Mukungu. The swearing-in was conducted by Hon. Abubakar Were Abubakar Wandangho, the Chairperson of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC Independent Electoral Commission. The committee members took both the oath of allegiance and secrecy, underscoring their commitment to their responsibilities.
Ahead of the ceremony, Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma, representing Administrative Secretary Yaziidi Katureebe, the head of Human Resources, handed over 39 sealed packages containing application letters for candidates in response to the recent advertisement in the New Vision of vacant posts at UMSC. The sealed packages were subsequently passed to Hon. Prof. Dr. Muhammadi Lubega, the UMSC National Chairperson, who then transferred them to the committee Chairperson, Hon. Sheikh Bruhan Abdul-Kadir Byekwaso.
In his remarks to the committee members, Mufti Mubaje offered guidance and counsel, urging them to discharge their duties with unwavering commitment and impartiality, as their appointment is divinely ordained. “You will be accountable before Allah and all Members of the Muslim community. When you succeed in performing duties as expected then you are bound to share the fruits expected to be attained and remember when you act contrary, still you will be effected by whatever goes wrong,” Sheikh Mubaje cautioned.
He cautioned the members against compromising their integrity and encouraged them to uphold Islamic values in their conduct. Earlier, Prof. Lubega emphasized the importance of professionalism, transparency, and integrity in building the UMSC’s human resource management system. “UMSC being a religious Institution, you are expected to exhibit sublime Islamic values in your given tasks,” Prof Lubega said.
