Hon. Muhammad Ali Aluma, the UMSC Secretary General hosted a team from Telecommunications Giant MTN led by Farook Lwanga, the Manager incharge of formal merchant Acquisition at the MTN head offices along Portbell Road in Kampala Capital City. Speaking on behalf of the team, Mr. Lwanga explained that the purpose of their courtesy visit was to acquaint Hon. Aluma and the  UMSC Management about the MTN Momo services, which according to him provide fast, simple, convenient, secure, and affordable money transfer and payments among other services.

“We are here to sell to you this idea, which we think is useful more especially in digitalizing payments or collections of money from activities that you are mandated to carryout such as swadaq, zakah, payments for Haj & UMRA and Halal fees from Slaughter houses, among others,” he said.

Hon. Aluma welcomed the idea and in his welcoming remarks gave the background of UMSC including it’s Administrative structure right from the headquarters to all corners of the country.”Our hands are open and ready to partner with you as we make arrangements which need to begin by educating our people about the services you desire to offer,” Hon Aluma remarked.  The two parties agreed to begin the process that will lead to the  signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the purpose of implementing the Partnership

In attendance were Hon. Yaziidi Katureebe, the UMSC Secretary for Administration and Human Resource and Ms Afua Mugumya, an Accountant in the UMSC department of Finance and Planning.
