Newly appointed Mukono Kadhi takes over office.

The newly appointed Mukono Muslim District leadership has officially taken over office at a function where Sheikh Imran Ssali, the UMSC Religious Affairs Secretary represented His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda. The function took place at Masjid Atiq in Mukono Municipality on June 21st, 2023. Important figures from the Muslim fraternity in the district led by Haj Haruna Semakula, the Chairperson of Mukono Muslim District, District Executives, Management Committee Members, County Sheikhs, Imams, Mosque Prayer Leaders, Women and Youth Leaders, Opinion Leaders, Elders, and area Security Chiefs attended the function.

In his speech delivered by Sheikh Ssali, the Mufti urged those present to embark on a new chapter of uniting Muslims and promoting developmental programs. He recounted the historical episodes of Prophet Muhammad PBUH, specifically highlighting the time when he arrived in Madinah and found the community deeply divided.

The Prophet successfully persuaded them to set aside their differences for the sake of Muslim unity. Sheikh Ssali urged the Muslim community in Mukono to take inspiration from this history and apply it in their own duties.

He also implored the wealthy and elite Muslims of Mukono to follow the example of Haj Haruna Semakula, a prosperous tycoon and owner of Hill Water Bottling company, who accepted the role of District Chairperson. Finally, he encouraged Muslim leaders in lower positions to familiarize themselves with the UMSC Constitution and its hierarchy when dealing with administrative matters, rather than always rushing to the Headquarters for issues that could be addressed at their level.

Prior to Sheikh Ssali’s speech, Sheikh Abbas Zubair Ssenkuba, the Acting Kadhi of Mukono Muslim District, and his deputy Sheikh Abdnoor Kasolo, along with Haj Semakula and Haj Kitaka Kavulu, the Deputy District Chairperson, expressed their gratitude to the Mufti and UMSC Management. They pledged to champion unity and social transformation programs among Muslims in their district on behalf of their respective committees.
