These facilities are involved in health care provision, working for the cause of Islam and contributing to the […]Uganda Muslim Medical Bureau is a national organization set up by the Uganda Muslim supreme Council to provide an advocacy, advisory, coordination and technical support supervisory services of Muslim private-not-for-profit health facilities. These facilities are involved in health care provision, working for the cause of Islam and contributing to the improvement of the life of the population of Uganda. Membership of the Bureau consists of 5 Hospitals, 24 Health Centre IIIs, and 21 health centre II’s. The Bureau coordinates activities of all member health units and it is the main link between member health units, government and other stakeholders. UMMB has direct supervisory mechanisms to ensure that health facilities under its jurisdictions abide by the standards set by the Ministry of Health. UMMB ensures that quality of health care is maintained at the health facilities. UMMB also provides the following services to these health facilities:
– Channel donor funds to member health facilities of UMMB
– Facilitate co-ordination between health facilities
– Communicate health regulations and standards
– Train the member facilities’ staff on issues related to management and other medical topics to ensure that standards are set
– UMMB headquarters has relationships with the health facilities and headquarter staff regularly do field visits to assess needs and provide resources where possible
