Majlis Ulama Appoints Kadhis for New Muslim Districts
The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Majlis Al Ulama—a committee of prominent Sheikhs—together with sectoral committees representing all regions, have successfully concluded their meetings held last weekend, ending on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
According to reports, the Majlis, chaired by His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa the Deputy Mufti, deliberated on key matters and passed several resolutions. Among these was the appointment of Kadhis for newly created Muslim districts as follows:
Sheikh Abdulaziz Qassim Amin – Zombo Muslim District
Sheikh Juma Adam Sebbi – Obongi Muslim District
Sheikh Saidi Omar Dramani – Terego Muslim District
Sheikh Uchilley Zubair – Bidi Bidi Muslim District
Sheikh Abduwahid Juma Ceaser – Madi Okollo Muslim District
Sheikh Akuguzibwe Isa – Nebbi Muslim District
Sheikh Yasin Magezi – Kyenjojo Muslim District

Meanwhile, the Sectoral Committee on Awqaf, Religious Affairs, and Da’wah, chaired by Hon. Isaac Omoding, conducted site inspections under the guidance of Hon. Nasser Musa Odongkara, Secretary for Awqaf (Endowment and Property). The team toured several UMSC properties and apartment projects under construction around Kampala. These included a storied building nearing completion at Nanjjanankumbi, as well as developments in Kyanja Estates, Nateete, and the Namugongo Muslim Martyrs Mosque.

The Legal and Sharia Committee chaired by Hon. Counsel Galiwango Ashiraf also held extensive discussions and made several recommendations on the proposed Kadhi Courts Bill currently before the Parliament of Uganda, as well as the Food and Nutrition Bill.
