Mufti Hosts Former Banbury Town Mayor from Oxfordshire, UK

His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, on Sunday mid-morning, May 3, 2026, hosted in his office a delegation of Muslim social workers under their charity organisation, Islamic Welfare Trust (UK).

The delegation was led by Brother Mohammed Yasin, the Secretary General and a resident of Birmingham. Among the visitors was Brother Fiaz Ahmed, a former Mayor of Banbury Town in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom.

They expressed profound gratitude to the Mufti for sparing time to meet them despite his tight schedule, noting that he was attending the ongoing second-day sitting of the UMSC Executive Committee meeting at the boardroom of the UMSC Headquarters in Old Kampala.

In his brief welcoming remarks, the Mufti shared the historical background of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), including its ongoing activities since inception. He also informed the delegation that he had heard about the noble services they have consistently extended to the people of Uganda in collaboration with ONE UMMAH.Foundation.

“We are really very grateful for your passionate hearts in helping the less privileged members of local communities,” the Mufti said.

Additionally, the Mufti commended Hajjat Shania Kigozi for her resilience, hard work, and trustworthiness in promoting pro-people activities within local communities.

The Mufti later led the delegation to extend their personal salutations to members of the UMSC Executive Committee who were in session.

Present were His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, the Deputy Mufti; His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, the Second Deputy Mufti; Hon. Hadji Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi, the UMSC Secretary General; and his two deputies, among other high-profile personalities.

The visiting team was accompanied by their Ugandan partners, One UMMAH Foundation, led by Hajjat Shania Kigozi, the Country Director.
