ICRC Visits UMSC to Strengthen Partnership
Hon. Haj Counsel Muhammad Ali Aluma, the Deputy Secretary General in charge of Administration and Finance at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), hosted Ms Jane Patricia Bako, Prevention Manager, and Counsel Mohammed Mahdy El Serafy, Operational Legal Advisor, both senior officials from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Kampala Regional Headquarters.
The officials said the courtesy visit was aimed at strengthening the existing cooperation between the ICRC and UMSC.
They briefed Hon. Aluma on an upcoming one-day training workshop scheduled for the end of July, as well as a seminar planned for the last week of October.
The ICRC extended invitations to the UMSC to nominate participants for both engagements. The theme of the July workshop will be “International Law and Islam,” while the theme of the October seminar will be communicated in due course.
Hon. Aluma, speaking on behalf of UMSC, expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to participate fully in both programs.
