UMSC and Munazzamat Al-Dawa Al-Islamiyya Reaffirm Partnership
H.E. Ali bin Hassan Abdallah Al-Hammad, the former Ambassador of the State of Qatar and newly appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Munazzamat Al-Dawa Al-Islamiyya, an international Muslim charitable organisation headquartered in Khartoum, Sudan, paid a courtesy call to His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, shortly after his return from the 2nd Islamic International Conference organised by Istiqamah Muslim Charitable Association, based in the Sultanate of Oman.
The three-day conference was held in Mombasa City, Kenya.
Ambassador Al-Hammad was accompanied by Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Adam Mahmoud, the Secretary General of Munazzamat Al-Dawa Al-Islamiyya; Dr. Omer Muhammad El-Gaz, the organisation’s Regional Director based in Kampala, Uganda; and Sheikh Jamiru Kassimu Ntambi, the Kadhi of Rubaga Muslim District and staff member of the Muslim Development Initiative (MDI).
The visiting delegation met the Mufti in his office at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Headquarters in Old Kampala on the afternoon of friday, June 25, 2026.
In his welcoming remarks, the Mufti briefed his guests on the history of Islam in Uganda, tracing its arrival in the early 1800s up to the establishment of the UMSC in 1972, including its structure and activities.
He also shared with them the state of affairs of the UMSC at the time he assumed Muslim leadership 26 years ago.
Meanwhile, the guests expressed their profound gratitude for the close cooperation that has existed between the two brotherly organisations for over 40 years, which has resulted in the implementation of numerous development projects across different sectors.
These include the construction of educational centres, mosques, provision of safe water through boreholes to communities, health facilities, among other initiatives.

They also appreciated the Office of the Mufti for the warm reception accorded to them during their visits to the UMSC Headquarters. A few days earlier, they had been received on behalf of the Mufti by His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, the 2nd Deputy Mufti.
Both sides held cordial and brotherly discussions and agreed to further strengthen their mutual cooperation in the future.
Present at the meeting were His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, the Deputy Mufti; His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, the 2nd Deputy Mufti; Hon. Hadji Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi, the UMSC Secretary General; Hon. Abdu-Razaq Arinda, the Deputy Secretary General in charge of Planning and Development; and Sheikh Abdu-Karim Abdallah Katamba, Director of Halal.
Dinner in Honour of Ambassador Al-Hammad

In the same spirit, Munazzamat Al-Dawa Al-Islamiyya organised a dinner in honour of Ambassador Ali bin Hassan Abdallah Al-Hammad on Thursday evening, June 25, 2026, at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
The Rt. Hon. Hajjat Lukia Nakadama Isanga, the 3rd Deputy Prime Minister, was the Chief Guest representing the Government of Uganda. Dr. Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya represented the Mufti.
Other dignitaries present included Hon. Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, Minister of Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs, and Hon. Hajjat Huda Oleru, State Minister for Veteran Affairs, among others.
