His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda and Chair of the African Forum for Muslim Councils (AFMC), has officially opened the two-day AFMC meeting in Kampala. The forum brings together representatives from over 40 member countries.
The meeting, held in the Boardroom at UMSC Headquarters in Old Kampala on Saturday, January 24, 2026, is being attended by forty Muftis. Participants are deliberating on several comprehensive reports, including the current status of AFMC, progress and challenges presented by Dr. Ebrahem Ssali, Secretary General; the strategic plan presented by Haj Addo; financial reports covering activities and operations; and the AFMC constitution.
The discussions aim to prepare members for the upcoming Extraordinary General Meeting, which will be hosted by the Nigerian Supreme Council for Muslim Affairs in Abuja, the capital city of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
