His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, the Deputy Mufti, represented His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, and the entire Muslim community in condoling with the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran following the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Imam and Supreme Leader.
Sheikh Waiswa was among various dignitaries, diplomats, and heads of institutions who visited the Iranian Embassy to sign the condolence book. Upon arrival, Sheikh Waiswa’s entourage—which included Sheikh Muhammad Murshid Luwemba, Secretary for Da’wah (Islamic propagation), and Sheikh Ali Juma Shiwuyu, Secretary for Hajj and Umrah—was received by Iranian Embassy officials led by the Ambassador, H.E. Majeed Safar, on Friday, March 7, 2026.
“Indeed, he has left an impactful legacy and transformative leadership in the history of Iran,” Sheikh Waiswa wrote in the condolence book.
After signing the book, the delegation held brief interactions with the Ambassador, who explained the delay in conducting the burial of the great leader. He also shared information about sections of Muslims around the world who have conducted special funeral prayers for the fallen leader.
