UMSC postpone commissioning of Mohamedali Meghani Mosque.
The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC National Management Committee under the stewardship of His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda has postponed the official commissioning of the Magnificent MohamedAli Meghani Mosque in Mateete trading center in Sembabule district. The mosque, whose construction was bankrolled by Kampala based Asian businessman, Dr. Shiraz Meghani was scheduled for opening on Sunday on July, 16th 2023.
The decision to suspend the opening was reached to prevent clashes between the mainstream lower UMSC leadership in Sembabule and the break way faction aligned to the Kibuli faction. In a meeting attended by a delegation led by Dr. Shiraz Meghani and O”we Kitibwa Mahmood Thobani, Dr. Meghan regretted being misled by a errant individuals who neither pay allegiance nor respect UMSC, whom he planned to handover the mosque to despite numerous letters from the Office of the Secretary General reminding him that it seats on land solely registered and ownered by UMSC whose titled was availed to him before the commencing the construction works. As part of the measures to prevent clashes since both parties had vowed to defend their interests the meeting resolved to stop the commissioning function until the matter is sorted out through proper channels.
In attendance were Hon. Prof. Dr. Muhamadi Lubega, the UMSC National Chairperson and Hon. Muhammad Aluma, the UMSC Ag. Secretary General.
