Profile of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Lubega Kisambira

Prof. Dr. Lubega Muhammadi Kisambira is a distinguished scholar, leader, academician, and public health expert who currently serves as the National Chairperson of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) — the supreme governing body representing all Muslims in Uganda. He is devoted to promoting unity, accountability, and socio-economic development among the more than 15 million Muslims across the country.

Prof. Dr. Lubega began his academic journey at Makerere University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) between 1991 and 1996. His passion for public health and community well-being inspired him to pursue a Master of Public Health (MPH) at the same university from 2002 to 2004, and later a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) with a specialization in Health Systems and Policy from 2007 to 2011.

As the National Chairperson of UMSC, Prof. Dr. Lubega provides visionary leadership and strategic direction to the Council, ensuring the unity, transparency, and effective governance of all Muslim structures in Uganda. His key responsibilities include:
