Mufti Launches 1 Million Strong Voices Campaign

The Mufti of Uganda, His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has launched the 1 Million Strong Voices Campaign, a national platform aimed at empowering, uniting, and transforming Muslim youth across the country.

The event, held on Friday, November 14th, 2025, attracted youth representatives from across Uganda and took place in the Conference Hall at the UMSC Headquarters in Old Kampala.

In his keynote address, which was punctuated with several Holy Quranic verses, the Mufti offered insights to the attentive youth leaders. He urged them to embrace their identities with pride and responsibility, and to pursue education with perseverance as a tool for empowerment and excellence in studies, skills development, and professionalism.

On digital responsibility, the Mufti cautioned the youth to use online platforms for positive engagement and beneficial knowledge rather than harmful trends that promote vice.

“So be the voice of reason and hope in the digital space and remember every post is a reflection of your values,” Mufti Mubaje advised.

He further encouraged the youth to value unity and collaboration as ordained by Allah.

“So work together across tribes, regions, faiths, in order to build a peaceful Uganda and should be known as youth who can bridge divides not create them,” he said.

The Mufti concluded by urging the youth not to be manipulated by greedy politicians into violence during the forthcoming national elections, but instead to safeguard peace and stability. Earlier, several high-profile personalities addressed the gathering. They included Hon. Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma, UMSC Deputy Secretary General; Counsel Enock Edris Barata, Director of Legal Affairs at the NRM Secretariat; Haj Habib Seruwagi, Senior Officer at the Equal Opportunities Commission; and Hon. Sheikh Kassimu Kamugisha, Executive Member/MAC, who all shared words of wisdom.

Meanwhile, Hon. Haj Habib Mustafa, National Chairman of the Uganda Muslim Youth Council, delivered a detailed speech outlining the background and aims of the campaign, including an appeal for financial support from President Museveni to implement their initiatives.

Also in attendance was Mr. Moses Kidega from the National Youth Council, alongside members of the UMSC National Management Committee.
