His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, has hosted Mr. Nasser Mohammed Ali Al-Haroon, Head of Istiqaama International, a charitable organization based in the Oman.
The organization has supported development initiatives in rural communities across East Africa, including Uganda, through the construction of mosques, schools, and boreholes to provide safe water.
Mr. Nasser was accompanied by his colleague, Mr. Nasser Saif Abdullah, a citizen of Zanzibar.
During the courtesy visit, Mr. Nasser—who speaks Luganda, Lusoga, Swahili, and English—told the Mufti that their mission was to strengthen the long-standing relationship between the people of East Africa and Oman, noting the deep cultural ties that have existed for centuries.
The Mufti, accompanied by his deputy, His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, held cordial and brotherly discussions with the guests, focusing on areas of societal transformation and community development.
Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation through more engagements, including exchange visits in the near future.
Also present at the meeting were Prof. Dr. Ziyad Swaleh Lubanga, Director of Sharia; Haj Issah Shaban from the Directorate of Halal; and Sheikh Ismail Wandeba, Principal Secretary to the Mufti.
