Mufti Mubaje Urges Muslims to Prepare for the Hereafter

His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, on Friday, May 8, 2026, led multitudes of mourners during the burial of the late Sheikh Issa Yiga at Buyenga, Butambala District. The Mufti, who was accompanied by the Deputy Mufti, His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, reminded the faithful to live in constant preparation for the day they will depart from earthly life and return to their Creator.

In his religious sermon, the Mufti quoted several verses from the Holy Qur’an and sayings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), emphasizing that death is inevitable and therefore calls upon believers to live righteously and strive to fulfill the will of Allah to attain eternal bliss in the Hereafter.

The Mufti praised the late Sheikh Issa Yiga for the outstanding services he rendered to the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) and the wider Muslim community over a long period of time. “Indeed, Sheikh Yiga lived an exemplary and pious life,” Mufti Mubaje remarked.

He further noted that the late Sheikh Yiga demonstrated a high level of integrity during his service as head of the UMSC Treasury.

“I vividly recall the unique system of accountability he introduced when he was later appointed to head the Zakah Department, where he ensured that every coin was properly accounted for,” the Mufti testified.

The Mufti also implored Muslims to strengthen unity among themselves and avoid mixing Islamic teachings with divisive political ideologies.

He concluded by offering fervent supplications for the departed soul of Sheikh Issa Yiga.
